In light of the Government's announcement on 23 March, we are limiting inspections for all but essential or emergency matters with immediate effect, until further notice. You can find out more information about changes to our services on our Temporary changes to Building Control services page.

Building control

Swansea Building Control is a service we offer to make sure that buildings are safe, healthy, sustainable and accessible for all users whether domestic, commercial or a public service.

Building Regulations is separate to Planning, so if carrying out build work you will require building regulations even if you don't require planning permission.

We can discuss an inspection programme for your scheme that suits you.  The price we quote for your project is the price you pay - this cost includes all inspections, advice and the issue of a completion certificate on a satisfactory final inspection - so there are no hidden extra costs for our service.

We can complete application forms on your behalf and take card payments over the phone.

We offer same day inspections if called before 10am and can also accommodate early or late inspections where possible.  Not only do our officers have local knowledge of the areas they cover, also, as a Local Building Control Authority we have access to historic records and are part of a national network working very closely with fire safety officers of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

If you have any comments or suggestions relating to our service, feel free to contact Peter Richards the Building Control Manager.
